DEF CON adopted the electronic badge for their conference badge in 2006 for DEF CON 14. The attendees’ enthrallment is very much apparent today as Badgelife has become its own whole subculture that is now adapted by conferences worldwide, attracting some of the most notorious names in the industry.

“The Drop” is now a concept that is well associated with the Badgelife world. The social posts going viral, not only in local communities but covered in internet blogs and mainstream tech journal syndications. As a creator, the drop is not only an adrenaline rush but it is solidification of a project coming to completion. And for some, it’s just for the luls, as such in 2017 when ANDxXOR “dropped” badges into the Caesars Palace pool.

8) Biggest success: Getting 5 hackers to jump in a pool fully clothed. You're welcome DEFCON. 8/n
— &!^ (@ANDnXOR) October 14, 2017

The Uberflux mission is to bring badge makers and collectors together and help the Badgelife community grow at DEF CON and beyond. We are here to support makers at every step, from the first spark of an idea to getting a finished badge into someone’s hands. To give collectors a place to discover, follow, and support the projects they love. Our community has always created new and unprecedented devices to be hung from lanyards and called badges. We want to make it easier for those ideas to come to life and for the people behind them to find each other.
